SOLAR ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR BUSINESS
Whether you are running an energy intensive business and trying to reduce your energy bill, looking for a hedge against the risk of rising electricity prices or simply trying to make a sustainability statement, solar energy is the right answer for you. According to Bloomberg’s analysis, solar energy is now the cheapest form of renewable energy, also outperforming traditional sources of energy like coal and gas.
With typical payback periods of 5-7 years and return on investment in excess of 15%, solar power systems are low risk, secure investments with expected lifecycle of over 20 years. Many countries offer incentives for businesses to switch to solar energy in form or tax credits and feed-in-tariffs, making solar a profitable business decision. Moreover, studies show that solar systems increase property value and make facilities more attractive for leasing through reduction in overhead costs.

CASE STUDY – 3 MW PEPSICO PROJECT
One of the largest PV rooftop projects in Latin America
After a long run as a top purchaser of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC), PepsiCo management made a strategic decision to focus on direct investments in renewable energy projects. Located in San Pedro Sula, Honduras the 3 MW rooftop project covers an area of 366,000ft² and sits on top the leading PepsiCo Bottling Plant in the region, EMSULA (Embotelladora de Sula S.A.). The facility bottles soft drinks, juices and purified water and will offset 20% of its energy use. The plant is expected to generate approximately 4,252.4 MWh /year, the equivalent of planting 4.7 million trees. EMSULA added the PV installation to improve the overall energy cost and management of the facility in addition to making a conscious effort to fulfill social and corporate responsibilities. This industry leading project for the region was developed and constructed in partnership with SmartSolar of Honduras, a leading solar EPC in Latin America.
