PROINSO Opens a Wholly Owned Subsidiary and Expands its Operations in South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa (2 November 2017): PROINSO, leading global distributor, integrator and technology company in the solar market, has opened a subsidiary in South Africa. This move comes after 6 years of activity in the market.

PROINSO, which has been active in South Africa since 2011, has now opened a fully owned subsidiary. The company previously operated directly from Europe and, in more recent years, through a local dealership. The strategic decision comes in pursuit of strengthening and expanding its business in the region to include its other business units. Warren Pollard, previously Sales Manager of Trina Solar for Africa, was appointed as General Manager of PROINSO South Africa.

PROINSO’s products will be distributed from two logistics centres located in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The company will continue to supply products from its global strategic partners, world-leading PV manufacturers such as SMA, Trojan Battery, Jinko Solar and Ingeteam. PROINSO will also be announcing a new relationship shortly, with the intent of continuing the growth of its 2.7GW of projects supplied globally.

PROINSO also brings uninterrupted power supply solutions including solar, batteries and diesel generation, up to and including utility scale, which has seen high demand in other regions.

PROINSO technology will offer local installers a direct relationship for PROINSO PV Rack, manufactured in Germany, and its solar tracking system, TURNSOLE Powered by OMRON. The tracker, developed in partnership with Japanese corporation OMRON, draws on PROINSO’s 12 years of experience in building, owning and operating trackers and OMRON’s over 80 years of electronics strength in providing a robust and reliable complete solution.  This is coupled with MECASOLAR for large scale tracker projects.

EPM is PROINSO’s project partnership unit focused on using the procurement, engineering and management strengths of both PROINSO and its installer partners to create value for end clients. EPM has demonstrated significant success with over 320 MW of projects of all scales completed.

“Despite a slow-down of the market in South Africa, our management sees it as a strategic market and whilst we’ve seen some companies disinvest from the region there is substantial upside potential, particularly in the commercial & industrial and regionally in the tracker market and off-grid total solutions” said Warren Pollard, General Manager at PROINSO South Africa.
