Solar Energy Company PROINSO has been shortlisted for this year’s Solar + Power Awards.

Established in 2009, the Solar + Power Awards (formerly the Solar Industry Awards) recognise innovative Technology and product approaches that have the potential to change the way we live.

PROINSO has been shortlisted alongside three other organisations in the Rural Electrification Award category for a PV project installed in Kepulauan Riau, Indonesia.

South East Asia accounts for approximately 37 percent of the world’s population who have no access to electricity. In many countries the energy infrastructure is under-developed. The standalone system installed has had a significant impact on local residents, providing 300 Wh of power to each household every day.

A spokesperson for PROINSO commented, “We are delighted to have been nominated for this award again. Indonesia has significant logistical and engineering challenges but with the experience and expertise of our local partner PT. Surya Energi Indotama we have managed to provide clean and efficient energy that has had a huge impact on people’s lives and well-being.”

This is the second year in a row in which PROINSO has been nominated for the Solar + Power Awards. In 2015, the company was again nominated in the Rural Electrification Award category for Project Helios, a specially built demonstration centre used to research cheaper commercial solar energy worldwide.

The Solar + Power Awards will be held in Munich on Wednesday 22nd June 2016.
