171.1 kW Rooftop Solar System Commissioned at Megatrópico’s Animal Feed Plant in Costa Rica

Windsor, United Kingdom – April 15, 2025: PROINSO, in collaboration with GoSolar, has completed the delivery and commissioning of a 171.1 kW rooftop solar PV system at Megatrópico’s production facility in San Ramón, Alajuela. The project was executed without disrupting the site’s operations and is expected to generate 231,645 kWh annually, offsetting nearly 25% of the plant’s electricity consumption.

To enhance safety and system performance, the installation includes 149 Tigo Energy optimisers—141 TS4-A-2F and 8 TS4-A-F units. These module-level power electronics provide real-time monitoring, optimise energy output under variable shading, and support rapid shutdown functionality in compliance with safety standards.

The design and installation were tailored to the site’s energy profile and rooftop characteristics. The project was completed on schedule, with a focus on reducing long-term energy costs and improving operational efficiency.

“This project responds to the specific energy needs of a production site in a rural area,” said Kristopherson Agüero, Sales Manager at GoSolar. “It’s a practical example of how renewable energy can be applied to reduce costs and increase energy stability in the agricultural industry.”

This system represents a replicable model for rural industrial energy transition in Costa Rica, combining local project execution with international technical support.
