Project Overviewx
Walmart is recognized as a global leader in renewable energy and is the largest onsite renewables user in the United States. For Walmart, investing in renewable energy is directly connected to their mission of helping customers save money and live better. With a long‑term goal of being supplied by 100% renewable energy, Walmart continues to expand its clean‑energy portfolio through leading technologies—most notably solar and wind power.
For this project in Mexico, Walmart selected PROINSO together with Becquerel Power due to the combination of Tier 1 components—LONGi Solar panels, SMA string inverters, and UNIRAC mounting systems—as well as PROINSO’s world‑class Engineering, Procurement and Management (EPM) expertise. PROINSO’s award‑winning global track record and partnerships with local EPCs ensured high‑quality execution, knowledge transfer, and long‑term value for the local solar industry.
This project enables Walmart to significantly reduce its carbon footprint, lower electricity costs, and pass these benefits on to the communities it serves. It demonstrates how a business at the heart of local communities can create environmental, social, and economic impact through clean‑energy adoption. By prioritizing energy efficiency and sustainable operations, Walmart strengthens its leadership in responsible retail.
Additionally, Walmart is evaluating the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers, which would further benefit local communities, support clean transportation, and add lasting value to the site.
